Controller Job Description

Job Summary:
Plan and direct the accounting operations of the company. Partner with the President and Senior Management with strategic plans. Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, claims department, bank reconciliations and payroll.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
• Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
• Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
• Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
• Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
• Files quarterly tax filings and partners with tax accountants.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Lead the implementation of a new ERP system – SAP.
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
• Five years or more of related experience required.
• Thorough understanding of P&L management.
• Thorough understanding of dashboarding, KPI’s and analysis of key financial data points.
• Supervisor experience with the ability to lead, manage and guide the accounting team.
• SAP experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Able to travel as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $1.00 - $2.00 per year
